3 reviews for Cub Cadet ZT2 54 | 54-in
I was searching for a Riding Mower and have 3 acres to mow. I researched many types of mowers, and kept coming back to the Cub Cadet line of equipment. I never had used a Zero Turn before and with some discussion with the dealership, the service technician spent a good amount of time explaining the differences, pros and cons of each.
Well after some time to think about it, I decided to upgrade to the ZT2, 54 inch and give it a try. I was amazed at the power this machine has, and the ability to control the machine once i had a bit of time running it. I was educated by the dealership, for new users to take your time and learn about all the little things this machine can do.
The mower is great. Cuts well and fast. The down side is no brakes. Our property slightly hilly and if you stop even on the driveway the only way to stop it is to set the parking brake. The handle for the parking brake is small hard to access and the day I brought it home the knob came off. It is made from soft plastic and just press on, and falls off easy. Other than the brakes the mower is great.
I’ve had this around three years…so far, no problems. The machine is fairly loud…in order to listen to music I need to use in ear headphones that are covered with a fairly deap set of over the ear ear protectors.
I have fairly sandy soil, so the original blades barely lasted 10 hours. I bought a set of XHT USA HD blades and ( with a few sharpening) they’ve lasted about sixty hours.
My yard (4 1/2 acres (2 acres of mowing) is fairly bumpy in areas. Keeping the rear tires a little soft helps some. Even with normal pressure, the ride is surprisingly decent.
I really wish there was a fuel gage ( ran out of gas a couple of times).
The agility of the machine makes it seem like I’m dancing with it (I can’t Dance).
