I bought this about a month ago and love mowing the lawn with it. I upgraded from a JD 105 42‑in deck to an X380 54‑in deck. It took me 2.5 hours to mow it—now it takes just over an hour. It really cut down how many times I have to mow an area. It does go through a bit more gas but I’m OK with that—the ride makes up for it
I have a JD X380 approximately 4 years old with ~77 hours. While under warranty I had to return within several months for a lift spring replacement. After ~2 years I had to return for a solenoid replacement. This year, after warranty expiration, I replaced a deck pulley, deck belt, and just recently replaced a solenoid again. The tractor has been well cared for and is serviced per recommendations. These early failures are unsatisfactory—I seriously doubt I will ever purchase another John Deere product
Great mower! Value, features, and price hit the sweet spot. It has the Kawasaki engine and stronger transmission, and I’ve used it for mowing, pulling a trailer, dethatcher, and aerator. I even pulled people on a sled! The quality compared to high‑end big‑box tractors is appreciable. Only downside: deck removal is more complicated than expected. John Deere accessories for it are poorly fitting and expensive.
