I’ve used this mower for three years with great results. I’m a gas mower holdout – but I am very impressed with the mower. I recommend to friends – in fact, a neighbor bought one on my recommendation. It mows well, and the batteries mow my entire yard. That being said, I am VERY disappointed in Ryobi. My mower was part of the recall. And while I have no problem with the recall, they bungled my replacement. I’ve been 7 weeks without a mower: it’s clear, based on an email from Ryobi, that my replacement mower was not ordered. I called them back and they told me “everything is fine – just keep waiting”. They would not help beyond that. So another month has passed and no mower. Now, they wlll finally take my call but claim that the replacement was for a Ridgid saw. ?!?!
Great power and easy to use. No more tune-ups either.
I’ve had the Ryobi 40V 21″ mower for about a month now and have used it for 4 mows. Very happy with the product so far. Strong self-propelling, two 6 Ah batteries, lightweight but feels well built. The bag is a little clunky to snap on and take off, but I only used it to test and don’t normally bag so isn’t a big deal for me. You use both batteries at the same time in this unit for maximum power and runtime. For me that was about 30 minutes in thick grass and steep inclines. It was enough for all my trimming without having to stop for a charge.
I bought this mower in March 2025. Have used it 5 times on a 1/3 acre lawn. Easy to use. Nice clean cut. Self propelled feature is nice. Have used the light for night mowing. Charge time is about 45 minutes per battery. Takes about 40 minutes to mow my lawn and have 1 of 4 bars left, so skeptical of 80 run time using the two batteries. However, for me it is perfect. I have enjoyed this mower and would recommend to anyone have a small lawn like mine.
The mower itself works well so far. There are a couple design flaws that need addressing like the handles to make it go forward are to long. You have to completely let go of the mower to make it stop. I shortened one side and now it’s fine.
